2. Argument – It is easy to hide a back story when you have two characters having a go at each other. We get lost in their conflict and squabble that we don’t realize that the writer is actually revealing key points of the characters’ back stories.
This is demonstrated in Good Will Hunting in the scene where its Will first time talking to Sean in therapy. Will begins questioning Sean’s credentials and eventual his love for his wife.
By the end of the scene it is so intense that Sean is actually choking Will which is something he deserved. We learnt during the scene about Sean’s storied education as well as his love for his wife.
